Suphanburi is a province not so far from Bangkok with just a hundred kilometers away. The province has potential for being the province that has much natural and historical abundance. You can see traces of its history from the Ayutthaya era here as well as other attractions around the province that represent the great important of history. Based on the artefacts and archaeological evidences, it is believed that this province may be dated back more than three thousand years! There are also national park and other natural attractions where you can mesmerize with the culture and beautiful views.
To get to this province
There are three options that you can choose from. You can drive a car here yourself or take a taxi which you can do so easily. You can decide to take a bus from the Northern Bus Terminal in Bangkok directly to Suphanburi and it will take you about two hours to get here. Dragon Paradise Park
This is a simulated village based on Li Jiang village of China which exists around a thousand years ago. The atmosphere inside has an ancient vibe with places like an inn, theatre, and even an ancient windmill that is true to the original. There is a spot where you can see the entire city of Suphanburi and a museum that shapes like a dragon. Inside of the museum, there are 29 rooms in which every room has different knowledge about the history and culture of ancient China that can be dated back to more than 5,000 years.
Chawak Swamp

Next place that I would recommend is Chawak Swamp which is a big natural swamp with more than 4.32 square kilometers of area. This place is filled with red and pink lotuses that blooms quite beautifully in the morning. More importantly, there is an aquarium that has freshwater fishes, exotic fishes, and rare fishes. These fishes are separated into different containers and there are also a fish tunnel and an escalator with 75 meters in length for you to get close to the fishes.

Sam Chuk Market

If you like to eat and explore, I highly recommend going to a market called Sam Chuk Market. It is a market with more than 100 years of history and it is a really famous one in Suphanburi. It has received an award from UNESCO for being a cultural heritage. There are many shops inside the market with the same atmosphere like an old Chinese market in the past. There are some shops that you cannot miss at all such as a toy & souvenir shop at the second alley, a half century old photography shop at the third alley, and many delicious restaurants.

If you want to feel the unique atmosphere of the province, you cannot merely look at all the famous places that this province has. You need to look deeper to see what is really inside and the best way to do it is to go to the places that are recommended by the locals.
Reuan Thai Bang Mae Mai Homestay

The first place is a homestay named Ruean Thai Bang Mae Mai which has special characteristics like no other. This homestay is a Thai house that has the interior of an ancient Thai house. Other than that, there are four houses like this connected together as one and you can choose to stay here.
While you are here, you can participate in various activities like broom-making activity in which the broom is made from coconut fiber. In fact, it is a really famous good here! Another great and delicious snack is called kanom sali or Thai sponge cake which you can eat straight from the oven! You could also take an E-tan car for a picnic and see the views of a hundred sugar palms, including rice fields. This is one of the homestays where you can really see the culture of the villagers with the best atmosphere and activities.

Phu Toei National Park

This is a land of natural abundance and the only preserved forest in Suphanburi. The highlight of this place is to go up the mountain and see the sunset in the evening. Once you wake up in the morning, you will see a beautiful sunrise and the sea of mists up here with the height of 1,123 meters which is also the highest point of Suphanburi. There is a spot where you can set up a tent and observe the stars at night, including waterfalls and Merkus pines all over the mountain which also consider to be the biggest plain of Merkus pines in the central region of Thailand.

Hub Kao Wong Reservoir

Lastly, this is a place where people in the community developed and protect the forest of the village to welcome tourists with simplicity as a concept in mind. This place invites tourist to see the way of life of the community in which they also received an award by doing so. In terms of a reservoir, it is a really peaceful place surrounded by mountains which is suitable for relaxing, camping, kayaking, fishing, and more! The community also provide a lot of amenities such as tent and raft renting. However, electricity is not available here, so you have to light a candle or a lantern at night. More importantly, there is no signal for mobile phones which means that you can truly spend time with your partner, families, or friends and fully experience the atmosphere and sound of the nature.
