Local Tells
Most people do not recognize Amnat Charoen as a place to come for their vacation, but this province actually has a lot to offer and the locals gave me some tips of all the places here. I find Amnat Charoen as an amazing place to discover in which its beauty and culture are things to look forward to.
Wat Phu Phanom Dee
This is a temple that was built in the year 1999 on top of a mountain. All of the sculptures in this temple are handmade by the villagers that cooperated with each other until they were finally finished. These sculptures were made from mountain stones in which the villagers carefully selected the sizes and colors of white and red.
Then, they stick the stones together. The structure of the sculptures also has different beautiful details on them. The highlight here is the chedi with a height of 30 meters with 20 meters of width on its base. This chedi uses a lot of stones to decorate. It even has a different name of a trillion stones chedi and it is very beautiful indeed. You can also witness other beautiful stone sculptures inside the temple.
Phu Singh ? Phu Pha Pueng Park
Next recommended place by the local is Phu Singh ? Phu Pha Pueng Park is an area with sophisticated mountains along the distance and a height of around 200 to 300 meters. Some places here are vast and some are steep cliffs. This place also contains medium and small mountains and natural path for a stroll in an abundant nature. The highlight of this place is Pha Chuen Warin which is a cliff and a spot where you can see the most romantic sunset surrounded by singing birds and forests. This is also the highest point of Amnat Charoen! If you are lucky, you might happen to be here when there is an annual event for mountain biking to see the nature with a distance of either 39 or 75 kilometers.
Wat Tham Sang Phet
The last place on this list is Wat Tham Sang Phet and it is a famous practical temple of this province. What I meant by practical is that they usually do various Buddhism rituals and meditations here. The temple is located on a mountain range with sandstones which has beautiful sceneries.
At the center of this place, you can easily see the golden Maha chedi there. Inside this temple, there is a bee wax statue of Phu Cha Supatto who is the founder of this temple. There are also wall arts around the temple which tell the history of Buddhism with amazing water color paintings. In addition, you can find the sleeping Buddha statue with 19 meters in length here too.
