Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is a temple and a place of symbol for Chiang Mai. It is situated on Doi Suthep with more than a thousand meters in height. It has one famous golden Chedi which is built in the Mon style in the year 1384. The Chedi is very archaic, but it signifies the architecture of ancient Lanna. Surrounding the Chedi is sightseeing spots which you can oversee the whole city of Chiang Mai.

You can also see the lights on this statue in the evening, and it is wonderful indeed. The really unique thing about this temple is the Buddha statue of Luang Pho Cham, which is a monk that the locals really respect. The back side of the temple will glow with green color from Cassia Bakeriana Craibs that are hanging beautifully. If you are lucky, you might see the sky full of stars too. There are actually many spots in the temple that are glowing, and if you use your flash from your mobile phone, you can draw something on the spot that is glowing and take a picture as a souvenir!

You can see the black Buddha statue inside with gems as its accessories. In fact, it is the style from Lopburi. Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan is the most famous temple in the eastern region of Thailand! There are three annual events here and there are many people who come here every year for these three events, so you should not miss them. However, the dates are not exactly the same every year, but if you come and visit Thailand around the following month, you might be able to catch it. The first event is held at the Chinese New Year celebration, the second event is in May, and the final one is in December. It does not really matter if there are festivals here or not, there will still be a lot of people at this temple as people have faith in the holiness of Luang Pho Sothon in which you can come and pray for your own luck. Please be cautious of your belongings as the place is always crowded with worshippers.
